FREETRADE.
DETRIMENTAL TO BRITAIN.
MR. MASSEY’S OPINION
(Received Friday, 11.40 a.m.)
LONDON, Thursday. Mr. W. F. Massey addressed tlhe Belfast Chamber of Commerce.
He did not hesitate to say that the British free trade system was detrimental to the interests of Britain and the Brit ; sh people. Tt had much to do with unemployment in Britain. The present system was suitable 75 years ago, but unsuitable now. He saw that some people, and a few thereof wit v 'm our own gates, looked forward to the disintegration of the Empire. Tt was the business of loyal citizens to counteract efforts in that direction. —Reuter.
