"BOOTLEGGING" RING.

PROMINENT PEOPLE GUILTY.

NEW YORK, Saturday.

A telegram from Indianapolis says that of sixty-two residents of Gary charged with conspiracy to violate the prohibition amendment, 55 have been found guilty.

Among those convicted "were the city’s Mayor, the Judge, the sheriff, numerous lawyers, and police officials. They will be sentenced on April 20. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.

(The arrests were made as the result of indictments by a Federhl Grand Jury arising from the investigation of an alleged “boot-legging” ring, which is said to have made a million dollars by illicit, liquor traffic in the steel centre.)
