APPEASING GERMANY. FRENCH REPLY TO LLOYD GEORGE. (Received Monday, 9.35 a.m.) PARIS, Sunday. The Echo National publishes M. Clemcnceau’s Note in reply to Mr. Lloyd George’s 1919 memorandum, wherein M. Clemcnceau pointed out that to think of appeasing Germany was pure illusion. The French policy was to help new buffer States between Russia and Germany. M. Mardieu, writing in the Echo National, adds: “Mr. Lloyd George was greatly irritated by this Note, and replied to it three days later, but M. Clemcnceau deemed it useless to make a rejoinder.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
