\ TO THE CAUSE OF EDUCATION. (Received Wednesday, 8.50 a.m.) NEW YORK, Tuesday. It is announced that Mr Rockefeller, the millionaire, during the .past year donated £14,000,000, besides the usual appropriations, to the General Education Board to promote education in the United States without distinction as to race, sex or creed. The sum of £lO,000,000 will be devoted to assist colleges and universities, and to increase teachers’ salaries, and £4,000,000 to improve medical education. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
