UNREST AND UNEMPLOYMENT.
The unemployed riots at Home arc the first real sign of the hard times which are ahead of the people of the British Empire. While regretting that there is so much unrest and unemployment in the Old Country just now, we must admit that the Government has done practically nothing to meet, the situation, and, in fact, has aggravated matters by its open encouragement of profiteering and wholesale robbery by big mercantile concerns in England. The Lloyd George Government contains in its ranks many profiteers who make no secret of their desire to get richer quickly—we have, for instance, Mr Bon sir Law’s admission regarding his connection with certain shipping companies. Is it Id be wondered sit that there is unrest sit Home when the Government continues to openly flaunt its sympathy with the profiteers before the eyes of Ihc public? Now that a hornets nest lias been stirred up, Mr Lloyd George, the opportunist, is making all sorts of rash | remises. The situation at Home at the present, time is a strong condemnation of the Government; it clearly demonstrates that Mr Lloyd George is a political trickster and not a statesman. Unless some effort is made to gtapplc y/jth the situation at Home in a statesmanlike manner, there is a danger that the country will be over-run with Bolshevism.
