A CIVIC FAREWELL.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL AT ATJCK- * ' LAND. ! (By Telegraph—Press -Association.) ’ AUCKLAND, Wednesday. A civic farewell was tendered to the Governor-General and the Countess of Liverpool in the Town Hall to-night. There was a large attendance. In reply to an address from the citi-zens,-Lord Liverpool said the Prince of Wales would nowhere receive a more whole-hearted welcome than from the New Zealanders, who realised that his only dcsirej in common with all members of the Royal Family, is to work for the benefit of the community and. share in th§ nation’s jpys and sorrows'.
“You are right, to be gratified at the appointment of Lord .Tellicoe, ” he added. “Lord .Tellicoe, I inn convinced, will devote his energies to- the welfare of New Zealand just gs he has given his whole life to the service, he has so long adorned.” '
