Asked by the "Observer” for definite information concerning the world’s corn harvest, the Food Controller (Mr McCurdy) said the best opinion in the trade anticipated a somewhat severe loss in wheat and rye acreage. The estimated loss of acreage in Europe was 12,000,500, exclusive of Russia, while the United States Bureau estimated that the yield of winter wheat in' the United States was 483,000,000 bushels, compared with 731,000,000 bushels last year.
