SCOTTISH HOME RULE.
BILL IN THE COMMONS. THE MEASURE TALKED OUT. (By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Sunday. In the House of Commons, Mr Joseph Johnstone (Renfrew East), in moving the second reading of the Scottish Home Rule Bill, claimed that Scotland was not so entitled to a Parliament as Ulster. He emphasised the fact that nobody in Soctland desired to interfere with the supremacy of the Imperial Parliament. Sir" Donald Maclean . supported the bill. He said.devolution would enable the Imperial Parliament to attend to Imperial questions more closely. A .The Secretary for Scotland admitted that the movement had (gained ground • in recent years, and that all successful Scottish candidates for ithe House of Commons were pledged to support Home Rule at the last election. The principle of Home Rule for Scotland,.... f far outweighed any objections that’ might be advanced. '{ The bill was talked out.
