Murderers concealed .behind walla near a church at Kilmihill, West Clare, fired on - a pajty of police who were leaving Mass. ' Sergeant Carroll was killed and Constable Collins was wounded ‘in the back.
Several civilians were wounded during the affray, including John Breene, who was fatally injured while leaving Mass.
