LOYAL MASTERTON LODGE

SOCIAL TO TRUSTEES. 'Tho members of the Loyal Masterton Lodge of Oddfellows tendered a. social to the Trustees of the Lodge, at the Empire Hotel, Masterton, last evening. The chair was occupied by Bra. J. 0. Piuhey, who presided over an attendance of about sixty mombcis of lodges throughout the district, representatives from kindred societies being present from all parts of the Wairarapa and Bush districts. The toast of the guests was proposed by Pro. C. J. Delacey, D.GfiL, of Carterton. He stated that the present financial position of the Lodge was due to the careful investment of Lodge funds. Bro. R. Krahagen also paid a tribute to the work of the Trustees,, and congratulated them upon the present excellent financial position of the Lodge. , Bros. B. d. King and .). Appeilov suitablv responded to the toast, and expressed regret at the absence of t .G. Bro. J. Dixon. Bro. J. Dixon had been one of the pioneer members ot tho Lodge, and, in conjunction with tiie speakers, had held the office of trustee for several years. Several members of the Carterton and Eketahuna Lodges paid tribute to the work of the Trustees, who had for many years past carefully atteudci t the investment of Lodge funds. The toast of “Kindred Societies was enthusiastically honoured, as was also a lengthy toast list. During the evening enjoyable musical items itmre contributed by Bros. Mexted and O’Regan, and a male quartette party—'Messrs Mills (-)* Woods and Elliot. Bro. C. Mills very capably officiated at the piano. . The catering arrangements in connection with the function were very creditably carried out by the staff: ot the Empire Hotel. At the conclusion of the proceedings the chairman (Bro.' J. O. Piuhey) thanked members for their attendance, and expressed his great pleasure at the success of the gathering, and at seeing so many of the brethren present The evening terminated* mlh the singing of 1 ‘ Aiild Lang Syne, and cheers for the organisers ot the Inaction.
