MR MACPHERSON AT PALMERSTON.

Mr MacPhcrson, the Liberal candi•3ato for the Oamaru seat, addressed a well-attended meeting of electors of .Palmerston on Friday evening. In discussing the imlieies issued by Sir Joseph Ward and the Premier, he said there was not a great difference between them. Ho favoured the Liberal leader, he was backed by a record of forty years. The land legislation showed tinkering by Reformers, who were for aggregation on an alarming scale. He condemned the mud--diing and bungling of the Government an connection with the renewal of the ■contract with the Imperial Government. 'Jtlr Massey's failure left tho producers without a market,or place in which to <put their produce. The large combines and merchants .were responsible, he said, for the cost of living, and would never be reduced until he did away "with these criminal monsters. He favoured concentration of the Public Works in order to complete the main lines.
