WELLINGTON NORTH.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday.
Mr -I. P. Luke, the -sitting member, and a candidate for Wellington North, addressed a croAvded meeting to-night. A minority of the audience interrupted him almost continuously and subjected the speaker to a running fire of noisy in terrouations. Mr Luke said he thought the time had come for the settling" of industrial differences by means of industrial committees. It was absolutely necessary for the safety of the Dominion that the old differences of opinion, social unrest, and misunderstanding should be settled. He advocated tho" nationalisation of the coal mines, and State-owned colliers and ferry service betAveen Wellington and Lyttelton. He stood for the present free, unsectarian. national system of education. He favoured the development of the back country and the speedy completion of the main lines of railAvay. He Avas accorded a vote of thanks.
