BUTCHERS' STRIKE.

SLAUGHTERMEN REFUSE TO WORK.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday.

The butchers on strike are still holding out sturdily, and the slaughtermen of the municipal abattoirs and Hellaby's slaughterhouse haA-e definitely refused to work to-day.

Business proceeded without incident at the retail shops. At present reduced staffs are coping reasonably with 1 all requirements. Supplies of frozen meat from Imperial stocks were delivered to city butchers this morning.

A meeting of master butchers will be held to-morrow night to consider the union's request for a conference.
