THE BUTCHERS' STRIKE.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Another dovi'lopmctiit has'occurred in connection with the butchers' strike, as the result of the cessation of "work by the slaughtermen. Instructions were given for the release of frozen meat at Southdown to supply future needs of the city. This meat is the property of the Imperial Government, but there arc standing instructions that it may be drawn upon if required for local needs. The freezing chamber hands, however, declined to shift the meat for the Auckland market, and quitted the premises. This difficulty was overcome by the clerks and department heads undertaking to shift the meat into trucks, and no difficulty is expected in obtaining supplies from this source.
