WASHED OUT TO SEA.
RETURNED SOLDIER DROWNED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday.
A drowning accident occurred at Karatahi Gap, on the West Coast, four miles from Waiuku, this morning. Two men, A. Somorville and (!. Tiveuon, were fishing from, the rocks at (he Cap when a huge wave came suddenly in from seaward dashed over the rocks on which they were standing, Somerville managed to cling to the rocks until the waters receded, but Tivenon was unable to retain his hold and was washed out to sea and drowned, his companion being unable to rescue him.
Tivenon was a returned soldier, and was about thirty years of age.
