TOWN PLANNING.
REPORT BY MR W. KEMP,
At tho Masterton Progressive League luncheon yesterday, Mr W. Kemp, who represented the League at the recent Town-planning Conference in Wellington, gave a lengthy report of tho proceedings. Mr Kemp was very enthusiastic as to the possibilities of improv l ing New Zealand towns in the future by planning, and of remodelling the towns already laid out. Referring to the housing problem, Mr Kemp expressed the opinion that the house of tho future must be in concrete —the day of the timber house was done. The houses must be erected for permanency, aud the architecture must be improved. Mr Kemp advocated more open spaces for Masterton, and favoured spending upon these spaces this year £500 of the £1500 set apart for the Park. (Hear, hear.)
For giving such a very interesting resume of the proceedings at the Conference, Mr Kemp was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
