TOWN PLANNING.
CHRISTCHURCH PROPOSALS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CIIRISTCHURCH, Tuesday.
At to-night's meeting of the Christchurch Town-planning Asosciation, a resolution was carried urging upon the Government the necessity for prompt action being taken in an endeavour to overcome the existing lack of decent houses at a reasonable rental, and for the purpose of a comprehensive Townplanning Bill, which should be made a matter of urgency at next session of Parliament. Mr L. M. Tsitt, M.P., said he was thoroughly in sympathy with the motion, but there was as much possibility of town-planning being considered next session as there was of going to the moon. The Mayor outlined a scheme he had evolved for the establishment of a garden suburb in a, block of sixteen acres, which was under offer to the City Council. He hoped a settlement would be laid out on the block to house the returned soldiers who were unable to secure housing accommodation.
