OBITUARY.

ARCHDEACON FANCOURT.

A Wellington telegram announces the death of Archdeacon Thos. Fancourt. Deceased was born at Malvern, Worcestershire, England, on January 22nd, 1840, and was educated at Lancing College, Sussex. He completed his student's curriculum and received his college diploma in 1863. Before coming to , New Zealand in 1565 he was for nine M months at Cawnpore, India, leaving owing to a breakdown in health. He was ordained deacon in 1865. The order ofl priesthood was conferred in 1867. He had at various periods charge of the Porirua, Karori, Johnsonville and Hutfe cures. In 1888 he was appointed Archdeacon of Wellington. He also occu> pied the position of diocesan secretary. Mrs 11. A. Nevins, of " Annedale," Tenui, is a daughter of deceased.
