Private F. Kelsall, of Masterton, is reported by cable to be. seriously ill. Corporal T. Dyer and Private F. H. Kelly, of Pahiatua, have been wounded. * . ■ Lieut. It. F. It. Bootham, of Mastortou, has been awarded the Military Cross. Lieut.-Colonel A. B. Charters, C.M.G., formerly of Mastertou, has been awarded the D.S.O. Mr W. B. Allen, of Clareville, will judge the Homney sheep class at the JTorowheniia A. and P. Show. Lieut. T. K. V. Seddon, M.P., who is on active service in France, has been promoted to the rank of. captain. Rifleman R. Smith, brother of the late Trooper "Tas" Smith, of Masterton, has been awarded the Military Modal. Mrs Bishop, wife of Mr U. W. Bishop. Senior Magistrate in Ohristchurch, died last night, states a Press Association message. Mr and Mrs F. \Y. G. MeLeod, of New Plymouth, and formerly of Masterton, are at present on a visit to this town. Mr C. Spencer Comj'toii, who was for some time organist of St. Matthew's Church, is at present on a. visit to Mac- * tfrton. A Press Association message fro» Nelson states that Mr .las. Boon, a wellknown chemist, died suddenly at a. Sunday school picnic on Tuesday. Mr Pat Hurley, formerly of Cartortou. died in the Taihape Hospital on Tuesday. Deceased was about ;U> years of a-e,'anil was well-known in football circles. Aunt l>orcas has passed away, aged v". veais. She was the oldest Pitcairn woman on .Norfolk Island, and was a descendant of one of the mutineers of the Bounty. Private W. SavilJe Smith, formerly of Masterton, is still attached to the military police in London. On account ot his* splendid physique, Private Smith was recently selected to act as drummajor to the Military Police Bund during a tour. Among the Xew Zealand soldiers who will short!v return are Lieutenant O. .larrett (Masterton), J. W. Ellis (Carterton). Private V. G. Boyens (Pahiatua), Private W. J. Chaffe (Pa.hiatua), Private F.
