Con oral Smuts on July 18th reported as follows: —Enemy forces which endeavoured to operate against our communications northward of the Laudeni"Usumbura railway, have now been driven down the Pangani river. They abandoned a field gun.
The clearance of this area is progress ing satisfactorily.
On tho southern shoro of Lake Victoria Nyauza, a force under Brigadier Sir C. Crewe, disembarked at Mwanga on the night of Friday.
The enemy evacuated the town after a slight resistance, leaving rifles, a portion of n. supply column, and a "Konigs-
berg" gun
Tho majority of tho German Furopean.s embarked on a steamship and lied southwards through the Stuhlmanu sound, pursued by armed Lake vessels.
