A DOUBLE ENEMY DEFEAT.

(Received Thursday, at 10.30 a.nx) PARIS, Wednesday

A semi-official message states that the enemy's) powerful general operations against the whole of the Mort Homme and Cumieres region was followed on Monday afternoon with a double bloody defeat at Mort Homme and Hill 304.

The Germans succeeded in taking, doubtless temporarily only, some portions of tho first line of trenches by throwing whole divisions upon a two-mile front.

The participation in this action of fresh troops drawn from another part of tho western front proves the exhaustion of the reserves, and compels the enemy to deplete quiet sectors. The French look on the final result of these costly blows with absolute confidence.
