SAN FRANCISCO, Monday

A survey of the Mavarna. which struck a rock at Half Moon Hay, on her last voyage from Sydney, disclosed that about fifty plates had been punctured or dented. The Marama was going dead slow at the time of the mishap, and backed into deep water, her double bottom saving her from settling down.

It is estimated that the damage done is in the vicinity of £20,000.
