HOKITTKA, Monday.

The condition of affairs on the sea front continues to be very serious. During the last few days the spring tidos have caused a savage attack on the ■protective works, which have .boon badly shattered by enormous wavys battering close in shore. The main attack at present is at the roar of Johnston's warehouse, and hero to-day the protective works erected uy the owners gave way, and the sea is eating in behind, Property-holders in the affected area are removing household goods, fearing further incursion to-night. The work of erecting groynes has been proceeding very leisurely, and in view of the serious position much public concern is expressed.
