Miss Moore, of Pahiatua, is visiting friends in Christchurch. Mr R B. Godfrey, of Kongomai, left last week on a visit to England Mr W Soilness, of Pongaroa, has gone on a visit to the South Island. Mr J. Kcrr, postmaster at Wellington North, has been appointed to a similar position at Eketahuna. The death occurred yesterday of Mi -J. Parish, an old settler ot Hukanui, at the age of S3 years. Mr J G W. Aitken's term ot office .as a member of the Wellington Education Board will expire m July.. Mr J. H. Bakewell, Inspector tor the •Wellington Education Board, is on a visit to Masterton. Mr James McDonald has been reelected chairman of the Pongaroa School Committee, and Mr Alex. jUcjfoonald secretary. - jk ßrigadier-General Ellison, staft oilier to the Inspector-General ot the Oversea Forces, is due in Wellington to-morrow. The death is reported by cable Irom London of Sir William Alexander Smith, founder and secretary ot tiie Boys' Brigade. . Mr W. Pringle, of Danncvirke, has consented to act as judge at the Masterton Collie Club's dog trials, to be held next week. Mr John Townley was yesterday elected chairman of'the Gisbornc Harbour Board for the twenty-fourth year in succession. This is claimed to be a record. —'Press Association. Messrs W. H. Booth and H. R. Bunny have bceu appointed to represent the Wairarapa P. and A. Spciety at the conference of the Dominion Council of Agriculture at Wellington. Mr E. Carter, formerly of Masterton and Featherston, was a passenger by the steamer Willochra, which left for Sydney on Friday. He is en route to the Old Country on a six months' holiday vacation. .Miss Aitchisou, who has been a teacher at the Hinemoa school for three •ears, and who has been transferred to " Kniwarra, was entertained at a social on Friday by the residents of Hinemoa. aiurpresented with several gifts.
