THE RIMUTAKA.
The Hon. F. M. 8. 1 Fisher made the statement last night, that "the development of this district will be retarded so long as the trains run over the •Rimut'aka." He hoped the day would come when that drawback would be removed. Mr Herdman has stated that the Rimutake line, is retarding-trade, and he hoped to see tho deviation brought about, and now Mr Fisher has given utterance to a like statement. It
would appear that the people of Wairara|>a will shortly see their hopes of better railway communication with Wellington realised. When two Ministers of the Crown make statements on the subject which art! practically identical, there must be something behind their remarks, and settlers and business men have good reason to hope that the Rimutaka deviation will bo taken in hand in the near future.
