It was not known whether it was a. case of murder or suicide. Reeks was fourth engineer on board the Secolia. He was a stranger to Wolverhampton. He had on the previous Saturday a wallet containing iive hundred dollar bills. All these were missing. Reeks was seen with another man in Liverpool. Inquiries showed that, two respectably dressed men boarded a train at Liverpool, arriving «at Wolverhampton early on the previous Tuesday. The revolver had not been traced. Reeks recently arrived from Canada. He visited relatives at Swinton and returned to Liverpool, where he remained a week. He left on Monday to re-visit his relations, but did not reach Swinton. It was supposed the body was conveyed to Ettiugshall in a, motor-car. There were no bullet-holes in an overcoat which covered the head. Nine sovereigns and a gold watch were found on the body, while a scarf-pin was found a few yards distant, suggesting that there had been a struggle.)
