ANOTHER BATHING FATALITY.
By the capsizing of a small boat yesterday morning, off Happy Valley, a young married man named Thomas Smith, residing at 44, Eollestin street, Wellington, lost his life. In company with his brother, Benjamin, and a young man named Frao.--.is McFadden, Smith set out in s. small rowing boat yesterday morning between eight and nine o'clock, with the idea of allowing the other two to bathe, says the New, Zealand Times. One of the brothers was standing on the c !gc of the boat, preparing to dive, when a breaker hit the boat, causing it to capsize. All three were thrown into the water and Thomas Smith was the only onflpho could not swim. His brother anUMcFadden were able to struggleto a reef thirty yards away, but he himself sank almost immediately. The Island Bay police were informed of the fatality, and Constable Reili-;;>7i, by dragging the water, discovered \,he body at 12.30 p.m. at a depth of 13ft. It was removed to the morgue. Smith was employed at Hill's brickyards, and leaves a wife and two children. Ho was twenty-eight years of age.
