DOMINIONS COMMISSION.

PORT OF LONDON ACCOMMODATION.

Aess Association —Electric Teleeraph—CoDvrigrbi LONDON, Wednesday.

Beforo tho Dominions Trade Commission, Mr J. Broadbank, representing tho Port of London Authority, gave evidence that the rates at London were higher than at other ports because the accommodation was better, and the value of lands and wages higher. A comparison of the rates often ignored the differing services and circumstances. There was no possibility of bringing large colonial vessels to discharge in tho heart of London. If it were desirable to remove the fruit markets from Covent Garden to the docks, tho Port authority would do its utmost to meet the requirements of the trade. The general character of most of the Australian cargoes prevented part cargoes of fruit from being discharged at special depots.
