DECKS CLEARED FOR ACTION.

LAW VERSUS SYNDICALISM.

(Received Thursday, at 9.25 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, Wednesday,

The Transvaal Leader newspaper,, in an article, states that, the decks arc cleared for action, and a struggle between tho State and syndicalism has begun. The only hope remaining, says tho paper, is that it will be fought to a final and conclusive issue.

The Johannesburg Mail anticipates that its publication will be suspended for a time in .consequence of its being a trade union office, while one of its competitors, being a non-union office continues to publish uninterrupted. The Mail considers that the position is scarcely likely to furnish a very strong incentive to other employers to follow tho Mail's example, and proceeds to state that "the fault is not that of tho system, in which we still believe, but of the madmen who rule the Federation to-day and seem determined to lead all who will follow them to ruin.''

Tho Mail tenders its sympathies to those who are forced by co-operation in achieving their own ruin and shattering their own ideals.
