Gales are sweeping the whole of the eastern coast. All shipping is detained.
During a blinding snowstorm, a ferryboat, with eight hundred passengers, collided with another vessel. The ferryboat was damaged, but reached its berth safely. The passengers got into a state of panic, ; and in the rush to get ashore, many were badly crushed and bruised.
