MELBOURNE, Thursday. ■At the /i.scot meeting to-day, the following was the result of the ASCOT THOUSAND, Of 1000 soys., for horses 14.2; five fur-' longs and a half. Arlington, 8.11 .. .. 1 • Earatonga, 7.7 2 Scratcho, 8.9 3 Twenty started. . Arlington led throughout, winning by a short length in lmin 7 3-ssecs, a record for the race. SOLTANO NOT FOR SALE. (Received Friday, at 10.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, Friday. A sportsman offered five thousand guineas for Soltano, in addition to half the winnings at the forthcoming meoting. Mr Lowry cabled that the horse was not for sale.
