LABOUR SPLIT.

IN NEW SOUTH WALES.

MR BEEBY GIVES OFFENCE.

Press Association—Electric. Telegraph—Copyrifht, (Received Friday, at 9.40 a.m.)

SYDNEY, Friday. The morning papers announce % split in the Labour camp.

The probable result, they say, will be the early retirement of Mr Beeby.

The principal reasons for this are stated to be his denunciation of the re*ferendum and offence given to labour unions by his administration of the industrial law, including his recent.refusal to accede to the Labour Council's request to eliminate the penal clauses from the Industrial Arbitration Act, and to guarantee absolute preference to Unionists.

The Council intimated to Mi , JBeeby that should he obtain the Labour nomination at the next election, the Central Executive would not endorse his nomination.
