Asbury, a well-known farmer, residing at Mangatoki, was unanimously selected. Messrs Farrott and Hughes, two other possible candidates sunk their own aspirations and declared they 'would heartily support Mr Astmry. The proceedings were enthasiiastic and unanimous.
