WAITING ON A MINISTER.
SHORT NOTICE RECEIVED
On April 23rd the President of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce received the following letter from the secretary of the Wellington Chamber: "The council of my Chamber iv conjunction with tlie Wellington City Council and other local bodies are arranging* a deputation to the Minister for Railways regarding a new central railway station for Wellington. Mr Mabin, our President, informs me tbat possibly yon would like to make one of the deputation and asks me to keep you in touch with what is being done. I will give you notice of the day and time of the proposed deputation." .Yesterday at (i p.m. the secretary of the local Chamber (Mr J. C. Boddington) received a telegram from the Wellington secretary stating that the Minister would meet the deputation with regard to the matter on Friday (to-day) at 11.30 o'clock, at the Railway Buildings, Wellington. Mr Alex. Henderson (President ol the Masterton Chamber of Commerce) had arranged to represent, that body on the deputation, but he had no idea the deputation would wait ou the Minister at such an early date and the notice received last night was too short to enable Him to attend.
