MEETING OF STRIKE COMMITTEE.

AMENDED PROPOSALS,

There was a fall meeting of the strike committee at the Trades Hall on Saturday morning, Mr W. T. Yonng presiding. j The decision of the men at the mass meeting, held in the concert chamber of tlio Town Hull oil Friday night was freely discussed. It was decided ! to waive clause No. J of tlio men's j ultimatum to the Council — The permanent removal of Inspector Fuller from the tramways service and substitute the Council's own resolution, recorded in the official minute book, together with the victimisation clause, the following document being drawn up to take the place of the , original demands: — | As a result of the conference ! between the delegates appointed by the City Council and the dele- j gates appointed by the tramways • strike committee it lias been { mutuaily agreeci as hereunder: - 1. That it bo an instruction to the electrical engineer on the ' settlement of tho dispute to have . Inspector Fuller placed in a posi- ' tion whore he will not have any dealings with the members of tho Tramway Union. ! 2. That the Council guaranteo that on resumption of work the men involved in this trouble shall ; not be subject to victimisation, but shall bo reinstated in their employment without loss of status. The meeting camo to tho decision that if the Council signed the new proposals tne men would resume work immediately. The four delegates who had previously met the Council's sub-commit-tee 'were deputed to present tlio new demands to the Council. They were received by thw sub-committee. Subsequently the full Council commenced a discussion arising out of the amend- j cd proposals, but before any conclu- ! sion was arrived at the meeting broke up in disorder as reported elsewhere. |
