LADS FROM HOME.
FIRST ARRIVALS IN MASTERTON.
Four sturdy, intelligent-looking lads, the first lot of those who are being sent from the Old Country to New Zealand, arrived in Masterton yesterday. Two came by the afternoon train and two by the late train. They were met at the railway station by Mr Georgesou, Inspector of Factories, who introduced them to their new employers. The lads hail from Liverpool, and their ages range from sixteen to seventeen years. One was engaged at Home as a casemaker, one as a Post, Office messenger, one in a commercial house, while the other had done work on a farm. They appear to be willing and energetic, and should readily adapt themselves to their new environment. Two have been sent to Te Wharau, and the other two to Kopuarauga aud Fernridge respectively.
