It is somewhat remarkable to note tne reduced importations of meat into Britain during the first four mouths of tliß present year. During that period, it is stated ou apparently reliable authority, not a single live sheep was imported into the Uuited Kiugdom, while in the corresponding period of two years previously over twenty-six thousand sheep were the official statistics. Iv live cuttle there was a falliugoil' iv importations during the first four mouths of the present year, compared with tho correapoudiug period of I'.IOS, equivalout to over oue hundred per cent. Aud iv conjunction with this remarkable fallmg-oft' iv live meat, decliues iv mutton, beef, bacou aud hams are recorded compared with the first four mouths of the preceding year. Iα inuttou the total importations for the first four months of 15)10 showed 50,000cwt loss thau for tho first four months of last year; fresh beef also showing a falling-oil' of -73,50:2cwt, !;acon decreasing by about yß2,oooewt, aud hams by uearly 147,000ewt. The total of dead meat imported into Britaiu for the period speciiied duriug tlie present year showed a decliue of 6!)1,122('\vt, comxiarod with the first four mouths of last year. Duriug the same period butter aud cheese also showed heavy declines, but shipments arriving duriug April more than covered the deficits. To what cause is attributable the falliug-off indicated duriug tne period specified has not been definitely ascertaiued.
