There is a blessed rest now iv the political field, a lull amongst politicians, which is encouraging. There are times wlieu the most strenuous political agitator ceases t) baa draw aud has, perforce, to bottle himself up until lie liuds that ho is wanted. British politics tire chaotic aud New Zealand politics are amorphous. Then
again, this is the season for race gatherings and these arc absolutely fatal to political agitation. A race gathering will bring a Minister of the Crown from afar, when perhaps he would not move a yard for any ordinary political consideration. Then again, the Premier may bo taking a
well-earned rest after his receut tremendous exertions during the Kitchener visit, aud until he makes a fresh start no one knows exactly where lie is. A dead calm in politics is quite ia accordauce with the best traditions of Easter, aud while the present lull lasts, there will be but little mischief perpetrated.
