THE EASTER MESSAGE.
Those who attend the rendering of the "Easter Message." at the Congregational Church, on Monday next, will enjoy a treat which in all important respects is quite new. The work itself is new aud breathes a modern spirit. It is fresh from a new mind, aud is quite out of the common groove of Easter performances. The rendering of it being in the hands of capable elocutionists and musical helpers, it will be found to grip from start to finish. Tho work is divided into seven scenes, dealing with the historical tragedy of Calvary and the Risen Life; and will bo re-iuforced with interpretive music and singing. Scene I. "From Jerusalem to Calvary" places before us iv graphic word painting the fine contempt of tho Roman dilletauti for tho matter of a racial disturbance ; also the mixed feelings of other sections of onlookers. Scene 3. The Earthquake, aud Scene 4. The Alarm of the Roman Soldiers, are strikingly depicted. Scenes 5 aud (> refer to the forlorn hope of tho disappointed disciples, aud here is introduced a fine " nature study—"The Chastened Message of the Easter Moon." This interpolation of Nature's worship gives iv a few lines the story of our satellite's transition from "The grandeur of a burning world" to its present placid state as a reflector of tho sun's light. The whole oil tho Easter Message is of well sustained interest, and the closing scene is very bright.
