BAND CONTEST.

WANGANUI. Friday.

The .baud Contest was concluded to-day. The results of the competitions are :—

Bass Trombone.— L. Holdaway, Blenheim, 11:5 points; H Birmingham, Wauganni Garrisou, 112; J. Boyd, Waugauui Garrison, IJ O. Tenor Horn.—o. Hansen, Nelson, 1.15; Powes. Wruigauui Garrison, 11] ;T. Williams Nelson. 109.

Double B Flat Bass.—Hughes. Nelson Garrison, 11(5; Lang, Gisborne, 112; Spurdle, Wanganui City, 104. Trombone Trios—Waugauui Garrison, ll'J; Blenheim, 118; Petoue, 101. The final test was played in the presence of a largo crowd. Waugauui scored 130 aud Petoue J2H, making their totals 3S(> aud 320, Wangauui thus winning the Championship Bessou Shield, which now becomes their property. Iv the B grade Nelson and Gisborne tied with 130, Waugauui City next with 110. Nelson therefore '-yon the Shield with a total oi 370; Gisborne came next with 3(W and Wanganui third with 352. Others finished as follows :—Blenheim, 341; Wellington Tramway, 334; Mauaia. 312; Feiiding, 3lf; Waitara 320; Cambridge, 32(5; Opuuake, 2S(>.
