Irate Pa: "Did you tell that youug man who calls on you every other night that I am going to have the gas turned off promptly at 10 p.m ?" Daughter: "Yes, papa." Irate Pa: "And what did be say to that?" Daughter: "He said he would consider it a personal favour if you would have it turned out at eight-thirty." Little Mary was playing witli her pet kitten. The kitten scratched her, aud she exclaimed, "You is a darued old kitty !" Her mother told her she must never utter such a naughty word again. The next day Mary was again playing with the kitten, aud again trouble arose, wheu she was iiearcl to remark: "You are .iust the same kind of kitten you was yesterday."
