A pretty wedding, and one of considerable local interest, was celebrated at St. Alban's Church ou Wednesday, wheu Margaret (Daisy) Tapliu, secoud daughter of tbe late Mr John Tapliu, was wedded to Mr J. T. O'Brien, head, shepherd at Awatoitoi. Tbe bride, who looked charming in a cream Empire gown, was given away by her cousin, Mr Alex. Tapliu. Miss Nellie Taplin, who was tastefully dressed in a semi-Empire gown, was bridesmaid; aucl rur J. Floyd best man. After the ceremony tbe numerous guests assembled at Mr Bert Duffy's residence, where a reception was held. The health of tbe happy pair was proposed by the Rev. H. Watson, the officiating clergyman, aud druuk with enthusiasm. Mauy beautiful presents testified to tbe esteem in which the couple are held. Mr aud Mrs O'Brien intend, after a trip to Wellington, to settle down on Mr Rupe.t Morrison's Otahuao farm, of which Mr O'Bneu has been appointed mauager. I jom with their many friends iv extending good wishes to tbe newly-wedded pair.

The Maoris are holding a taugi at the pa in memory of the late Kara Te Huki, who was accidentally killed a few weeks back. Some of the friends of tbe late chieftain were uuable to be present at the recent obsequies, aud tbe taugi now proceeding is to allow them to pay their respects to the memory of the deceased.
