A bottle was picked up on the Newport beach, near Broken Bay, containing an ill.spelled and clumsily scrawled message, alleged to have been written by a man aboard the Waratah, announcing that the vessel was slowly drifting south to Victoria Liaud, havina lost her rudder and propeller. The police authorities attach no credence to the message. MELBOURNE, Saturday. A bottle was picked up on the beach near Sale, contaimug a message purporting to have been thrown overboard whilo the Waratah was sinking fast in latitude 48 deg. east, longitude HSO deg. south, and signed "J. Miilburue." No such passenger's name appears on the list, however. There was a W. Millburne on board, but he lauded at Durban.
