There seoms to be evory prospect of Mr P. L. Holliugs haviug "a walk over" for tho Mayoralty on Thursday noxt. Wo do uot regrot this, because ho has displayed in tho past year considerable business aptitude and a capacity for dealing effectively with a municipal financial position which required courage, skill aud judgment. Last year ho favoured high rating, and on this poiut we trust he will bo a little merciful duriug tho prosout term. Iv any case tho interests of the town will bo fairly safe in his bauds ; but, as yet, wo havo uo indication as to tho rate demands that he will consider to bo uocessary for tho twelvemonth which commoucod ou tho Ist inst. With a good business Council at his back, wo may expect satisfactory rosults.
