BRANDING SHOW RAMS.

A number of detail arrangements for the conduct of the next Masterton Ram Fair were submitted by a special Sub-Committee to the meeting or the General Committee of the Mastertou A. and P. Associatiou on Saturday. These were eventually adopted, but oue or two of the recommendations caused a little discussion.

The Committee desired that the present system of tagging the rams entered for sale should be abolished, and that the Waugauui custom of firebrandiug them, at the discretion of the auctioneers, be substituted for all or auy portion of the entries, so as to avoid any chauce of misdelivery after the sale.

Mr J. Strang protested against this, and said he considered that vendors should have the choice whether their rams were fire-branded or not.

Mr O. C. Cooper explained the benefits ot the proposed new system, and said that breeders generally favoured it.

Mr Straug differed from this statement, aud on his suggestion the clause was amended by making the fire-brand-ing optional with the vendors. Another recommendation of the Committee was that the lowest opening bid for a stud ram shall be five guineas. This was agreed upon, after a short discussion.
