THE MORTGAGE TAX.

AUCKLAND, Last Night,
Mr Massey, Leader of the Opposition, stated yesterday that he considered that the mortgage tax should be dove away with. It tended to make money dearer to the borrower. Not only that, out it had the effect of preventing money from beiug sent to the country for investment. "I have often wondered," he added, "that business men took this matter so quietly, and I am glad to see that attention is? at last being called to it. "
