The Cartortou School Cadets held a shooting practice at the Papawai Eango on Monday. At the annual meeting of the Ahiaruho Sports Club, the secretary reported a credit balance of £0. It was decided to hold the next sports on March 10th, and Mr IT. Shannon was appointed handieapper. The prize money i.s to be increased, and a big handicap of three evonts, most points to count, is to be provided, and also a jumping competition for horses. On Saturday evening the subscribers of the Morrison's Bush Hall presented Mr C. J. Poison with a beautiful clock and salad bowl iv recognition of having supplied tho music for tho dances. For having helped with tho music, Mr J. Smith was presented with a case of pipes. Tho Martiuborough Racing Club have decided to admit bookmakers on the inside enclosure of their conrse at £10 per day, and £5 per day on the outside enclosure, for the Christmas mooting. Each bookmaker is to bo allowed one clerk. The position is to be at the corner of the course opposite tho totalisator house.
