A NICE TEA CAKE.

One cup of sugar, half a cup of melted butter, 1)4 cup milk, two teaspoonfuls cream of tartar, one teaspoonful carbonate of soda, sufficient flour to make a thick batter. Put tho cream of tartar, soda, and sugar into tho flour, sift it into the mixing bowl, put tho butter in a cup aud place on the stove to melt; when it is melted strain it into the dry ingredients and add the milk cold, and mix all thoroughly together. It should be thick enough not to run off the spoon. Pour it into a dish and bake in a hot oven for tweutv minutes.
