In hot weather never allow fish to lie in a heap upon one another. The •way to keep them fresh is to wring a clean cloth out of cold, well salted ■water. Wrap the fish separately in this, and lay them on an earthenware dish, or on a cold stone floor.

To reduce the gas bill, see that the gas is turned on only halfway at the meter. If turned full on the gas is forced through the meter too quickly, and more is registered, though the light is no better.

The correct way to "do up" table napkins is not to starch them. Wash them as usual, then if, possible, run them through . a rubber wringer. If you haven't one, wring with the hands as dry as possible,. Next roll them in a dry cloth, and lay on one side for a few minutes.
