YOUNG'S

The finest display of fancy goods and toys yet seen iv Masterton is now being made by Messrs MoLeod aud Young, at tho Academy Buildings. The firm have made special arrangements for the Christmas trade, all ordinary rputiuo business being set aside for this event. For some weeks past the staff has been busy uupackiug goods, and the whole of the very largo premises, covering considerably over two thousand square feet of floor space, is packed from end to end. An idea of the class of goods in stock can be gaiued from the displays made in the Queen and Church-street windows. Iv tho literary department, children's reward books are a special feature. It will probably be a revelation to otxr readers to know that tho firm have over two thousand to select from, at prices ranging from ono pouiiy to half a guinea. Classics are also given special attention, there being no less than eight different editions, some of them very dainty in appearance. Poets, prayer - books, hymn - books, Bibles in all the latest shapes aud styles, are to he found at. prices to suit every requirement. The stock of leather goods is distinctly high-class. Tho goods are well displayed, aud are classified, so that patrons can readily select tho article they want. There are dressing cases for'ladios aud geuts, silver-mounted setsbrnshes. music-cases, collar-boxes, tourist, oases —iv fact, every article required to make tho toilet complete. Tho purses aud peggy bags are an exceedingly pretty lot and most suitable for gifts". The prices range from a few shillings to vino guineas.

The collection of goods iv the fancy department is very complete, and evidences most capable buying. The low prices at which the articles are marked is very noticeable, marvellous value beius offered for oue shilling. There is a "large collection of silvormouuted photo frames, protty flower vases, fern bowls (the latter'in copper and beautiful tinted china), etc.

A large section of the premises lias been specially allotted to the display of toys, aud on entering this department* one is immediately impressed with the elaborate arrangements for displaying the goods. The variety of toys is very great, and includes many uoVfl lines iv go-carts, prams, aud unbreakable wooden articles.

The firm are agents for the Wellington Piauo Co,, aud a special Xnias consignment of these instruments is expected in a few days. Good business is being done in this department. In order to cope with the large volume of trade, the already large staff is to be more than doubled and every possible arrangement made for attending to customers without delay. Inspection of the stock is cordially invited, aud the proprietors or assistants will be pleased to show anyone over their extensive premises.
